Benefits of Board Certification
More and more patients are educating themselves as to what it means to be a Royal College Certified Plastic Surgeon and why they are the best resource to help you reach your surgical goal.

Though every surgeon will have complications, only a Board Certified, Royal College trained Plastic Surgeon has the training to not only perform the surgery you want, but be there for you if there are complications. This ensures that you still obtain the best possible outcome. Only the Certification of the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada ensures that the surgeon you see has the appropriate training and expertise. When investigating a possible physician to do your surgery look at what their credentials are and what training they have had.

To become a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Canada one must first graduate from an accredited medical school, and then complete a minimum of five years of surgical training in all areas of Plastic Surgery - both Reconstructive and Cosmetic, in an accredited plastic surgery residency program. The surgeon then must pass an exam administered by the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada, this is a multi-day multi format exam. Once the surgeon has completed this, they are then deemed a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

This level of intense training helps to ensure the patient that a Royal College trained Board Certified Plastic Surgeon surgeon is a safe surgeon who is qualified to perform the operation you want and deal with any complication that may arise.
